Our Department celebrated our legacy and the future at an event honoring our four new Endowed Chairs:

Resident and Fellows Graduation 2016

On June 15, 2016 at the Fox Chapel Golf Club we celebrated the graduation of traditional two-year Cardiothoracic Surgery residents Dr. Julissa Jurado, Dr. Brian Lace, Dr. M. Jawad Latif, and Dr. Ibrahim Yazji; advanced minimally invasive thoracic surgery fellows Dr. Nicholas Baker, Dr. Kevin Jamil and Dr. Neha Reddy; and cardiothoracic transplant fellow Dr. Tanuntorn Songdechakraiwut.

96th Annual AATS Meeting Alumni and Friends Reception 2016

UPMC Reception at the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplant Meeting 2017

The Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, along with the Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care Medicine and the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute Heart Failure program hosted a fantastic evening of food, drinks, and fantastic views at the 37th Annual Meeting and Scientific Sessions of the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplant UPMC Reception.

Donor Heart and Lung Procurement Simulation Lab 2017

On April 3, 2017 the University of Pittsburgh Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery hosted a Donor Heart and Lung Procurement Simulation Lab to kick-off the week of activities at the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplant Meetings and Scientific Sessions.  A special thank you to UCSD for allowing us to utilize their amazing facility, The Center for the Future of Surgery, and their tremendously helpful staff.

Porcine Surgical Simulation Labs

Our residents, fellows, and CME course attendees particpate in porcine surgical simulation labs, providing them an opportunity to hone their skills in surgical interventions and operations such as minimally invasive esophagectomy, aortic dissection, CABG, photodynamic therapy, POEM, LINX implanation, endoscopic mucosal resection, and much more.

Celebrating UPMC's 2000th Lung Transplant
