David M. West, MD

Dr. West obtained his Doctor of Medicine from West Virginia University School of Medicine and completed his General Surgery residency at the University of Kentucky. He went on to specialize in Cardiothoracic Surgery, where he completed his Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. Prior to his recruitment to the University of Pittsburgh Dr. West practiced as a Cardiothoracic Surgeon at Westmoreland Hospital within the Excela Health System. He joined the University of Pittsburgh as an Assistant Professor of Surgery in 2019, and also currently holds the title of Chief of Cardiac Surgery at Washington Hospital in Washington, PA. Dr. West is certified by the American Board of Surgery and American Board of Thoracic Surgery, and has coauthored multiple peer-reviewed publications.
