Neil A. Christie, MD

Dr. Christie obtained his medical degree from the University of Toronto. He remained at the University of Toronto for his General Surgery Residency and went on to pursue a Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency at the Cleveland Clinic. He subsequently completed a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where he currently practices. Dr. Christie is an Associate Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery and serves as the Chief of Thoracic and Foregut Surgery at UPMC Shadyside. He is also the Director of Thoracic Surgery Education at Shadyside, Director of the CT Surgery Residency Credentials Committee, and Thoracic Track Director within the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department. To date Dr. Christie has over 70 peer-reviewed publications, 100+ abstracts, and several book chapters and reviews. He is an integral mentor and educator to program trainees and an asset to the surgical success of the Department.

Research Interests

Dr. Christie's research interests include antireflux surgery, fluorescent bronchoscopy, minimally invasive thoracic surgery, thoracic oncology, and thoracic stereotactic radiosurgery.
