Dr. Furukawa is an Assistant Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery specializing in lung transplantation.  Dr. Furukawa worked as an attending thoracic surgeon in his native Japan, where he also completed his training, before joining our program as first a trainee then faculty recruit at the University of Pittsburgh.  He has authored over 60 peer-reviewed publications and is a member of the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplant.
